The French Alps features a lot of wonderful settings that everyone wishes to go. Among all those places, Avoriaz is one of the greatest: it actually ranks in the top snowboarding destination of the world. If you want to discover Avoriaz and its magic, here is how to plan your ski holidays in the greatest setting of the French Alps.
First step: making inquiries on the activities
Before starting planning your trip, there is one thing you must do: checking all the activities that you will get at Avoriaz, just to be sure this is the best skiing setting for you. Here is a short list of some wonders to be find:
- Horse-drawn sleighs
- Snow caps
- Win-award pistes layouts (such as The Stach)
- Pistes layouts for everyone (Kids Parkway, Riglet Park, Snowcross…)
- Aquariaz, the tropical spa of the ski resort
- Summer activities (such as freeriding, biking, trekking, archery…)
Notice that Avoriaz is part of the largest skiing area in the world and that the ski resort is forbidden to cars. You will also find a lot of accommodations in Avoriaz, so don’t worry for that.
Second step: plan your trip to Avoriaz
Now that you know the different activities offered by the alpine ski resort Avoriaz, it is now up to you to choose the best time to visit this area. In fact, Avoriaz is open all year long, during winter of course but also during summer. Here is a piece of advice: avoid the French holidays -end of October, end of December, start of January and all February- if you don’t want to ski with the crowd.
To go to Avoriaz, you can take the train or the plane. In train, you will have to take the Eurostar from London to Lyon and then take a “TGV” (high-speed engine) to Annemasse, Thonon-les-Bains or Geneva. Buses from Altibus company or taxi drivers shuttle back and forth to Avoriaz. If you take the plane, you will have to go to the Geneva Cointrin International Airport. There again, buses and taxi drivers will transport you to the ski resort.
Third step: finding the best rented flat
The final step to plan your trip is to find an apartment in Avoriaz. Be a relief, there is a ton of touristic bed in the aera. Actually, the French organism Savoie Mont Blanc has estimated the capacity of the ski resort at 17 446 touristic beds in 1 916 institutions. In relation to the apartments, you will find 365 furnished flats and about 17 tourism apartment blocks: everything you need to enjoy your stay. In 2012, Avoriaz also started the construction -now finished- of a 4 stars apartment blocks district and a 5 stars apartment blocks district.
To find the best flat, go on your favorite online platform and try French ones: it is more specific and you will find greater deals.
